Menopause

This is a new phase of life. It is not a time for fear or dread but to embrace this new beginning. It comes to all women and as we experience the hot flushes, night sweats (even in winter with the windows wide open), the achy joints (suddenly you feel you have aged 20 years), insomnia, the mood swings and not forgetting the brain fog (sometimes it is a struggle to remember what day it is). There are so many symptoms of menopause and these are just a few. Menopause is very individual and it doesn’t discriminate. We are here to support you through this time with our complementary therapies.

How can you help me with my menopause?

Reflexology

Our reflexologist is trained in techniques especially for this stage in life. Did you know that stress can make menopause symptoms worse? Reflexology encourages relaxation and reduces stress. It also aids sleep. Thus, in turn can promote general wellbeing and may result in symptoms being more manageable. By taking a full lifestyle and health history, we work with your individual symptoms by applying these techniques and providing lifestyle advice to help support your experiences. Reflexology works alongside conventional menopause treatments such as HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy). Whether you are going through this naturally or have the help of medication to get through this time, reflexology can support your menopause journey. Contact us for more details or have any questions.

Ear seeds

Ear seeds can be used to support your menopause experiences. These are tiny seeds that are placed on a small plaster and placed on differing acupressure points on the ears. These points are determined from the full consultation you will have prior to any treatment starting. Our midwife reflexologist has been specifically trained in the placement of ear seeds as well as auricular reflexology. Ear seeds can be part of a reflexology session (either on the feet or ears) or as a stand alone treatment.

Complementary Therapies

Therapies such as massage and Reiki can be used throughout menopause to support and relieve symptoms such as emotional and sleep issues. We offer a full consultation prior to treatments to ensure we are tailoring to your individual needs. More about our Wellness services can be

What People Are Saying

Katy is such a friendly midwife with so much knowledge around alternative therapies in pregnancy. My baby was breech throughout my pregnancy so at 35 weeks Katy discussed using moxibustion. As a midwife myself I did research on using moxibustion and found a lot of positive outcomes. When using the sticks (moxibustion) my baby was very active and I felt as if she was trying to turn. At our 37 week scan the baby had turned and we were delighted! I highly recommend trying them.

LAURA

Katy was so lovely and welcoming. I came in for acupuncture after a recommendation and found it so relaxing and calming. Katy explained everything she was doing and even put together a bottle of oil to take home, I had such a wonderful experience and found everything she told me very helpful. Thank you so much xx

CHLOE BEALE

Katie is absolutely amazing, I would have no hesitation in recommending a hypnobirthing course with her. As first time parents both me & my husband were quite nervous about what to expect when the time came to birth our child. After attending the hypnobirthing course taken by Katie, we came away with an extensive amount of knowledge not only about labour but also our rights as parents & how to advocate for ourselves. I can honestly say all my nerves about labour had disappeared & I felt super confident & actually excited about putting all that I had learnt in to practice as & when the time came for our little one to arrive. Katie is not only a fantastic hypnobirthing teacher but also a beautiful caring individual who was there for me both pre & post birth answering all my million and one questions & helping me with the transition in to the 4th trimester. Whilst the midwives I had during my labour were fantastic, if I had the choice I would have loved for Katie to have been my midwife.

Katie is a fantastic Hypnobirthing teacher. She's informative, open and knowledgeable, and her classes are lovely and friendly. Katie gave us the tools to have a fabulous home birth, exactly as we wished for! I'd always recommend Hypnobirthing classes with her.

CORAL ALICE

I went to visit Katy during my pregnancy on recommendation from a friend and I was so pleased that I did. Katy is so knowledgeable and friendly, and the massages really helped with my pelvic girdle pain towards the end of my pregnancy, as well as giving me some time to relax. I felt in completely safe hands as she is also an experienced midwife, and she helped me talk through some worries when I was transferred to consultant led care late on in my pregnancy. I couldn't wait to visit Katy for a postnatal massage, which was bliss and something I would definitely recommend to all new mums out there

MEGAN FIELDING

Iv been today for a full body pregnancy massage and it was just amazing.! The whole place was pristine, immaculately clean, Katy put me at ease straight away n I was so relaxed, such an amazing massage and 100% I'll be back, amazing experience all round, Thankyou!

TERRI WARD

Katie was lovely, super practical and down to earth. both my husband and myself asked a seemingly endless amount of stupid questions (as first time parents!) and Katie was so knowledgeable and patient with all her answers. she's lovely, really filled us with confidence about the whole process, and what our rights were. Thank you Katie.

KIRSTY GUILD

I couldn't have asked for a better hypnobirthing teacher! Katie was professional, knowledgable and trusting, but at the same time made the learning fun and engaging which was a perfect balance! With Katie also being a midwife, I felt at ease and comfortable throughout our hypnobirthing sessions and in safe hands. My husband, who was very sceptical of hypnobirthing in the beginning, also enjoyed the course thoroughly and learnt so much! This definitely made us both feel more confident and made him the most perfect birthing partner! Katie was always there for me to contact when I needed advice and overall, was a massive support. I would recommend Katie to everyone and anyone who is interested in hypnobirthing - 10/10 experience!
